My Beliefs
This morning I showed my mom my Human Paleontology book and explained that it was a long class on evolution, to which my step-dad asked me if I really believed in that stuff. I said yes because we have proof that the Earth and Homo sapiens have for a lot longer than the Bible has claimed. We then had a debate on creationism vs evolution and towards the end, my step-dad tells my mom, “I think your son is an Athiest,” to which I replied, “Yes I am, I believe in science and not God.” The entire conversation pretty much ended right then and there. My mom hasn’t looked at me since and has been in her room for the past hour. We were both raised on Catholic views, so it is understandable that she is very upset.

Nature
Some Jehovah witnesses talked to me about how the earthquakes that going on right now are a prophecy of God. Bullshit, we build cities in locations that are known for their seismic activity, like California.

Chit Chat
I had a mini conversation today with my step dad about religion as he asked me "Do you believe in God?" That's a pretty open ended general question, yet I was able to simply answer "no."He asked why so I responded in telling him that pretty much humans, like other animals on this planet, have one job and that is to reproduce. From there I explained to him that unlike other animals, humans have a brain that is well developed enough and advanced enough to adapt to culture, language, personality, etc. Thus humans do a little bit more than just reproduce. Sadly the conversation ended there because we had arrived at our destination but that conversation is definitely going to be continued and I will completely look forward to that.
